Stel je voor dat je al de moderne communicatie middelen van vandaag de dag niet tot je beschikking zou hebben. Geen mail, geen chat, geen Twitter, telefonie of Facebook. En stel je voor dat je in een bedrijf werkt met 50 medewerkers waar je toch dagelijks mee in contact moet staan. Hoe los je dat op? Door met z’n allen op gezette tijden op dezelfde locatie aanwezig te zijn. Simpele puzzel, toch?

Laten we de vraag nu omdraaien: je hebt al deze moderne middelen wel tot je beschikking dus waarom ga je nog iedere dag naar kantoor? En als bonusvraag: doe je dat ook zoals honderd jaar geleden met paard en koets?

Dat we op ouderwetse manieren werken is iets waar de computer ons dagelijks aan herinnert: we stoppen bestanden in mappen en die staan in onze digitale archiefkast die we ’s avonds keurig uit zetten alvorens we naar huis gaan. Als we informatie willen delen met collega’s dan maken we een kopie van de map die we vervolgens naar de collega doorsturen. En als we dan wijzigingen aanbrengen bestaan er ineens twee versies van het document. Wijzigt de collega het bestand ook, dan zijn er drie.
